What is Green Building Certification?
A Green Building Certification (BREEAM®, LEED® & the like) verifies that a building has met environmental, energy, human health & well-being, and other standards in its design, construction, and performance. It encourages and rewards a best sustainable practice, innovation and recognises the exemplary building performance
What are the Benefits of Green Building Certification, LEED Certification?
The benefits of sustainable building design & construction project management with OV Engineering, LLC are received by different stakeholders through the building life cycle:
BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) is a sustainability assessment method that is used to masterplan projects, infrastructure and buildings. It is a way to measure the environmental impact of the asset/property in the built environment & supports sustainable practice.
It focuses on sustainable value across range of categories - Energy, Well-being, Waste, Water, Transport, Land Use & Ecology, Materials, Pollution & Management
Each category focusses on the most influential factors, including reduced carbon emissions, low impact design, adaption to climate change, ecological value and biodiversity protection
Building information modelling (BIM)
It is a digital information management approach being adopted by the construction industry to improve productivity and quality in building and infrastructure projects, reduce financial losses during construction, and provide a basis for developing future services.
At its core is 3-D modelling with embedded data that can be shared by and amongst all project partners, at all stages of a project from design through to maintenance. Each partner retains responsibility for their own data but project managers are able to use BIM as one "agreed source of truth" for their decision-making. This means a more efficient use of resources, more effective communications and therefore collaboration within the partnership, greater flexibility and improved long-term planning – the benefits of which accrue to client, project manager and contractor
Level of Development (LOD)
There are six different levels of development that are defined by the AIA (American Institute of Architects). According to AIA, LOD outlines the design requirements at each stage.
Below you can check breif description of each LOD
Collaboration with BIM Architect
OV Engineering, LLC has started a collaboration with an Ukrainian Architect Gennadii Donets related to the BREEAM & BIM projects architectural design, project management & coordination.
Gennadii is an Enthusiastic Architect eager to contribute to team success through hard work, attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. He has clear understanding of the client needs and find an exeptional architectural solutions. Gennadii is an author of various projects located in Poland, Ukraine & Georgia.
Below you can check buildings he has created so far
Implementing a BIM process with Revit building design software is a key to the successful green building certification of the project.
The projects complexity usually require close coordination between many stakeholders, including building envelope, structural, MEP, sustainability assessments, traffic study, lighting, and cost issues.
The best thing about BIM is it links multiple disciplines to a single design model. That’s why you can rely on BIM to complete the overall design, provide more efficient construction process (less errors, faster construction) with precision and maximum efficiency of the buildings that produce less waste and are cheaper but also easier to operate
- Setting up GIS basis to be used for shared coordinates for BIM models
- Importing point cloud into Revit software, locating it correctly based on shared coordinates system
- Documented BIM execution plan
- Quantity take off schedules from provided models
- Clash detection reports
- BIM troubleshooting
- Collating of Architectural, Structural, MEP design models
- BIM quality check
- BIM integrity check
- BIM clash-detection check
- BIM common mistakes check
The objects have a geometrical representation using a symbol or a generic representation. The global model can be used for solar and
early energy analysis
The objects have an accurate geometrical representation with a specific system, object or assembly. Information related to quantities,
size, shape, location and orientation are also determined. The global model has enough information to provide precise analysis and
simulations on every element and system. Furthermore, tasks related to collaboration, such as coordination and clash detections, can
be performed
The objects have an accurate geometrical representation with a specific system, object or assembly. Information related to quantities,
size, shape, location and orientation are with detailing, fabrication, assembly, and installation information. The global model can be
used for direct production and construction scheduling
The objects have a geometrical representation using a generic system, object, or assembly. Approximated information related to quantities,
size, shape, location and orientation are also determined. The global model can be used for general performance analysis and
calculations
The objects have an accurate geometrical representation with a specific system, object or assembly. Information related to quantities,
size, shape, location, orientation and interfaces with other building systems (= LOD 300 + interfaces) are also determined. The global
model is particularly suited for the use of the model to support the constructive process. It has the advantage of being easier to develop
than the LOD 400 but providing more useful information than LOD 300
The objects are a field verified representation in terms of size, shape, location, quantity, and orientation. It is the As-Built version of
the BIM. In these models, elements are represented with all technical information needed for maintenance and procurement
